Ryan Bhai ... and other stories

The D Space

Ryan Dharwadker is hereby renamed to Ryan Bhai. (as in Dawood Bhai).
Ryan may still have his cute smiles, but underneath all those smiles is a very strong personality.
He is extremely determined, and lately has been getting the better of Rohan. Actually he's kicking Rohan's a$$.
For a while there, Ryan was the thinker, and Rohan was the more physical one.
Now Rohan's personality is starting to be a lot more docile. He is also suddenly trying to talk a lot more.

Ryan on the other hand is all brawn, well mostly brawn. He can give you the absolutely stinkiest stares, and he believes in the old adage..push Rohan first and ask questions later. Of course both of them need their space, its just that Ryan's space is around 6 times his size and Rohan dare not come anywhere near it.

Ryan and Rohan love playing with their little toy cars (funny how that happens..boys with cars, girls with dolls).
But they have this annoying habbit of rolling the cars up the wall. Which is very noisy and drives all of us crazy.
I have to keep shouting at them to stop rolling the cars on the wall.
While saying prayers with Rhea, in Rhea's room, they were at it again. Rolling the cars on the wall. And then banging the cars on the wall. Which caused a small picture frame on the wall to fall down, at their feet and and break to pieces (cheap frame :-))
Both rohan and ryan stood stunned; cars in their hand, and looking at the wall, absolutely still, hoping i didn't notice.
"Didn't i tell you NOT to play with the cars on the wall".
Quiet ....silence still looking at the wall.
I was starting to enjoy this ,and was trying not to laugh at their reaction.
So i shouted a little louder
"DID I NOT TELL YOU GUYS TO STOP PLAYING ON THE WALL?? KEEP THE CARS DOWN..."
Still not turning back, and looking ahead at the wall...
"KEEP THE CARS DOWN NOW!!!"
Slowly..and still looking at the wall, without turning back, like movie actors keeping their guns down.. they keep the cars down. Now i'm trying really really hard to not start laughing...
"NOW GO TO YOUR ROOM" "BEDTIME, GO TO YOUR ROOM NOW!!!"
Rohan trots out without looking back and heads back to his room. Ryan starts to go behind him, and then shamelessly, absolutely completely shamelessly , Ryan turns back.
"I DON'T THINK SO!!!......KEEP THAT CAR BACK DOWN...THAT CAR STAYS HERE!!!! NICE TRY BUDDY..." :-)

Rohan while eating dinner with a very concerned and confused face suddenly started talking to Fiona.
His lips in a rounded "o" and a frown on his forehead like he was vigourously thinking.
"Oooga ooga ..oooga ooooloa..."
What? What do you want Rohan?
He was obviously trying to communicate something..
Now pointing to the kitchen "Oooh oog oooga ooooloa.."
You want something to eat? Yogurt?
Rohan stops ..absolutely stunned...Then breaks into a HUGE SMILE.
SUCCESS!!

Rhea( true american that she is) to Swapna watching Divali crackers in India:
"Sapu, is it the 4th of July here?"

On the first day in india, both Rhea and I were jetlagged. Nevertheless i woke up around 10:00 o clock, while Rhea woke up around 12:00. We pretty much rested through the day. Next day was Mom's borthday party at Swapna's house.
Suneet Mami, told my mom, not to tell anyone that Rhea and I had arrived, so she diddn't.
The next day we all met at Swapna's house and had a great party. Lots of good food of course, and I got to meet and surprise everyone. The highlight of the party was by Didi (who is a poet) , who wrote a fairly long poem about mom, that i will at some point get to scanning and put on here.
Rhea started by playing with Sanika, she had been really looking forward to meeting her. Sanioka was also the first to arrive. Then of course Avani arrived, and Rhea had found her playmate for the week. Avani is a year younger, and like Rhea, very talkative, and very playful. They enjoyed playing with each other, running around Swapna's house, and jumping around and shouting. Of course i had to play with them too, and Avani was extrememly enthralled by my "Cuckoo Clock" where i would hold her upside down, using her legs, and then swing her like a pendulum to "Tick Tock, Tick Tock Avani is a Cuckoo Clock". Rhea had so much fun that I decided we should try and meet Avani as much as possible over the next week.
I didn;t think it would be possible, but thanks to Pallu, they did meet and play almost everyday.

All in all we had a lot of fun.
